WALT: I will tell you the Walt in each create task I do!

HEYYY BLOGGERS!!!! 😁

Today is Tuesday June 15th and I started typing this blog post today! Our school for erm 3 week 1 started yesterday! I was super excited to see my friends and finally get back to school! So in reading most of the people got moved to different groups including me! I got moved up to a level higher! 🙂 I used to be in Whaea Annie’s reading group, but now i’m in Mr. Rossiter’s! We have different colors for each Reading teacher! The colors are, Gold, Silver, Turquoise, and Purple! I’m in Silver! Which is the third highest! For reading we had a new book and new create tasks! At the start of my Reading session our whole reading group had spots to sit on and we sit there, and then we all need a buddy to work with for group reading! Which we chose on Monday! I chose Annabelle as my buddy! The reason why we need a buddy is because there is something called buddy one and buddy two! So we all sit in the same spots we chose on Monday. Then we find the same buddy and on Monday we all chose buddy one and buddy two! Im Buddy two and Annabelle’s buddy one! As we first sit down we also had to write down the date in our books! Then we find some words in our books, and lastly we spell them! We have three words that we have to spell! After we spelt the words buddy one has to read 2 pages and buddy 2 has to read 2 pages as well! Once we were done reading then our reading teacher would take one group, and the other group who is not being taken will be doing their create tasks. Same for the other group. There are two groups and I’m in group 2! Ok so now I will explain you what book we read and what it was about!

MY BOOK: Ok so my book was called The Duel: The Inventors Awaken. Ok so this book was about Grandpa Sid and how he invented stuff. It was also about his Grandchild and how he was comforting his Grandpa when he was sad. You will find out more about my books in my create tasks! Ok so now I will explain to your, tell you the Walt of my create task, and what I had to do for my first create tasks!

FIRST CREATE TASK: For my first create task I chose to do the comic strip one which is the purple box! Ok so I will tell you my walt for this create task! WALT: Recall information about the text. That was my Walt for this create task! Now I will tell you my actual create task! Ok so firstly you have to make a copy of the google drawing comic strip thingy. Then you have to rename it and move it to your reading folder. After that you have to add the title in the box. Like the title of your story. There are 5 boxes you have to complete. The first one is beginning, the second one is build up, the third one is problem, the fourth on is resolution, and the fifth one is Ending. So you summarize parts of the story in each box. After you completed all of the boxes and your create task, you have to add it into your blog!

That’s what I chose and had to do for my first create! I hope you liked my description for it! That’s all I could complete for this week!

REFLECTION FOR FIRST CREATE TASK: I liked doing this create task because I thought it was super easy and quick to do! I think next time I can improve on typing a a bit more on the second to last, and last box. But I still think I did good! So in total I would rate this create task a 8\10!

This week we had the same create tasks to do but we had a new book to read! Ok so we had 5 create tasks to choose from, and the max we had to complete is three create tasks! But if you finish three create tasks then you can do more create tasks! Also if your three create tasks are up to a good and high standard then you will get a voucher! I got a voucher twice! Ok so now I will tell you my book and what my book was about! So the Chicken Jockey [my group] , and the legends read the same book! Then the Coco melon Crew read a different book! There book was called The Celebration of Matariki, and our book was called Kainga. These books were based on Matariki, since Matariki recently just passed. My book was about Grace and Clarissa her older sister [I think] , went to the beach with their Dad, and then they smelt some birds that smelt very gross. Grace is the older sister and she has a problem with herself so that means that she sees the world differently, and her younger sister Issa her whole name is Clarissa. Issa helps her sister whenever she has troubles. That’s all I can tell you about my book, but you will find out more about my book in my create tasks. That is what my book is about! This book had different story’s and stuff in it. My story had, 5-6 pages. 5 pages because it had a whole page of a picture. My page started at page 34. Now I will tell you what I chose and did for my create tasks! But firstly I will tell you what I chose and had to do for my first create task.

FIRST CREATE TASK: For my first create task I chose to do the Understand one! That is the blue box one the second one on the top! Ok so for this create task I chose to do it on Adobe Express! I will tell you the walt for this create task now! WALT: Understand what Matariki means. I think most people chose Adobe to do this create task! You have to make a poster on Adobe. The poster has to be related to Matariki facts from your book. I just googled up facts for Matariki and some could be in the book that’s on the Matariki site because my book didn’t have any Matariki facts to put in my poster. I out 5 facts in my Adobe poster! One of my facts where: Pohutukawa is the oldest Female star and it’s a very special star, because it reminds you of your passed ones. Once you have completed your first create task you have to blog it!

That is what I chose and had to do for my first create task! I hope you liked my description for it! Now I will tell you what I chose and had to do for my second create task!

SECOND CREATE TASK: For my second create task I chose to do the Analyse create task! I will tell you my Walt for this create task now! WALT: Analyse and compare MATARIKI to different cultural celebrations. That’s my Walt for this create task that i’m doing! Now I will tell you what I had to do! Ok so firstly you have to make a Venn diagram. I used mine from last week because I didn’t do much on it. My Venn diagram is light blue and light green! My friend taught me how to make one, but I forgot how to make one. 🙂 So that’s what you have to make. You also have to compare other celebrations with the Matariki celebration! If you don’t know how to use a Venn diagram I will tell you. Ok so the left side you have to type things that are different to the other topic you chose. and for the right one you have to type different things from the other one! Lastly in the middle you have to type things that are the same for both topics! Or that are at least similar. Once you have completed your second create task, you have to blog it!

REFLECTION FOR FIRST CREATE TASK: I liked doing this create task because I found it super easy to complete, and it took less time too! I think next time I can improve on maybe adding a more facts, but I still think I did really good! So in total I would rate this create task a 9\10!

HERE IS MY FIRST CREATE TASK! Which is the one where you have to make a poster about Matariki using Adobe! I HOPE YOU LIKE IT!

REFLECTION FOR SECOND CREATE TASK: I liked and didn’t like doing this create task, I liked doing this create task because I found it a bit easy and it was a good create task, and I didn’t like doing this create task because I found it harder to come up with the same things for both! I think next time I can improve on making my create task better and putting more facts in the middle! But In total I would rate this create task a…… 6.3\10!

This week is week 7 Wednesday of term two and we had a different book but the same create tasks to do! Ok sooo our book this week was called: A SAFE PLACE IN THE COUNTRY! This book was about where children had to move from the British island because it was in risk of bombing attacks, but the children had to leave their parents, then they traveled away from the British place and yea. That’s all I can tell you about my story, but don’t worry you will probably find out more about my story book in my create tasks! It is Wednesday as you know and I completed one create task! That’s because I was away for Monday and Tuesday! Alright so now I better tell you what I chose for my create tasks and had to do for them! I will also tell you the Walt!

FIRST CREATE TASK: For my first create task I chose to do the story summary one! Ok so firstly you have to go onto the reading tab and go onto slide 8, then click on any of the create tasks and it will take you to the slideshow! Don’t worry it will take you to the same slideshow where you can find all of the create tasks! SO firstly you have to make a copy of the Google drawing which is on slide 2 of the create task slideshow! Then you have to click pictures from your book and you can crop them if you want. then there is a little text box where you can add sentences of what’s happening in the picture! By the way I forgot but you also have to rename your Google drawing and move it to your reading folder! OOPS! I almost forgot to tell you the Walt! WALT: retell a story identifying the key events and why they are important to the story. That is my Walt for my first create task! There are also 6 boxes to do! Once you have completed your first create task you have to blog it! 🙂

That is what I chose and had to do for my first create task! Now I will explain you what I chose and had to do for my second create task!

SECOND CREATE TASK: For my second create task I chose to do the Adobe express one! Ok so firstly I will tell you the Walt for this create task! WALT: use a poster to communicate the various ideas of a text. That is my Walt for this create task! Now I will actually tell you what I had to do! Ok so firstly you have to go onto slide 7 if your doing this create task, then you have to click onto the blue line that says Template and example here! Then you have to click onto a button on the top that says REMIX! Then you have to click onto the picture and then click generate image. After that you have to click in the text box and type what you want your image to be about! For example I put mine as people near a school bus and a someone driving the bus, because my book was about children going to a different place away from the British islands! So that’s why I picked the bus thingy! You have to make your image something like a movie cover! So you can add the title and what date it’s coming out on! Once you have completed your second create task you have to blog it! 🙂

This week we had a new book to read and new create tasks! Ok so as you know two of the groups get the same book and one another group gets a different book! Ok so this week my group [Chicken Jockey] had the book called Ice Skating Rescue! This book is about where Dad sprained his Ankle and then people, like his family had come to help him and take him to the Hospital! The rest of the information you will probably find it in my create tasks! Alright so that is a bit of information about my book! Firstly we had to read our book, the book was 24 pages long! It is pretty long! Ok so now I will tell you what I chose and had to do for my create tasks! Firstly I will be telling you about my first create task!

FIRST CREATE TASK: So for my first create task there was a slideshow with all different create tasks! So I chose to do the one on slide 6, which is the 10 years description one! Firstly we had to make a copy of the Google doc, then we had to rename it and move it to our reading folder. Here is my WALT for my first create task! WALT: Look at our story from a different perspective. That is the Walt for the first create task I chose! Alright so now I will explain you what I actually did! Ok so firstly there was an example on slide six when you click on the slideshow of the create task. So you have firstly choose a character, then you have to be them from their perspective and write about them. So for my character I chose Dad! Dad doesn’t have a name that I know of, so I just chose the name as Dad. For example you have to type like this: it’s been 10 years since…. That’s the sentence starter I used. Then I also typed more. So that’s basically what you have to do! I typed about 12 sentences! They look less to me, but they are short sentences and a lot of words! Once you have finished your first create task, you have to blog it! 🙂

That is what I chose and had to do for my first create task! Now I will tell you what I chose and had to do for my second create task!

SECOND CREATE TASK: For my second create task I chose to do the Adobe express movie one! Ok so this one is on Adobe as I said. The create task is on slide seven! It’s the one with the picture of a Astronaut! Ok so firstly you had to click onto the blue link that said Template and example here, then it will take you to the Adobe express example and the template! Oh, I almost forgot! I need to tell you the Walt! WALT: use a poster to communicate the various ideas of a text. That is my WALT for my second create task! Ok so we have to click onto remix that is in blue, then it will take you to making your own creation. So you have to click onto the picture, then onto Generate image, and then delete the text and add your own. It should be related to your book! Like for example my book was about ice skating, so I will type something about ice skating. Once you have generated your background, you can scroll down and you will find more options of the things you generated. Once you have finished your second create task you have to blog it! 🙂

THIRD CREATE TASK: For my third create task I chose to do the summary one! For the summary one you had 6 boxes to do, so you had to click a picture of a page in your book, and then there was a text box where you can type what’s happening in the page, so that people will know what’s happening!

REFLECTION FOR FIRST CREATE TASK: I liked and didn’t like doing this create task. So I liked doing this create task because I found it quick to do, but I didn’t like this create task because I found it a bit confusing what to type! I think next time I can improve on making my sentences and words better, but I still think I did pretty good! 🙂 So in total I would rate this create task a…… 7\10!

REFLECTION FOR THIRD CREATE TASK: I liked doing this create task because I found it really fun to do! I think next time I can improve on nothing! Because I liked doing this create task and I thought it was super easy to complete! So in total I would rate it a 10\10!!

So this week we had new books and new create tasks to do! Ok so my book this week was called Hidden Treasures of the past, and it had 27 pages in total, but some of the ending pages were like what words mean. This book was about like the olden days and Egyptian stuff like how they were in tombs and stuff like that. You will probably find out more in my create tasks! So for our create tasks there was a slideshow with 6 different create tasks! We have to finish as many create tasks as we can! So far I’ve completed 2 create tasks! Ok so it will be a short or long description of what I had to do for my create tasks! Ok so there were lots of create tasks as you know and they were all located to one slideshow! So now I will explain you what I chose and had to do for my first and second create task! [but the first and second are in paragraphs!]

FIRST CREATE TASK: For my first create task I chose to do them in order so I picked the first one which was on slide 3! Ok so for that create task it was called the Vocabulary Explore tasks. HERE IS MY WALT FOR MY CREATE TASK ONE! WALT: use our prior knowledge to figure out the meaning of base words, whole words and phrases in a text. So that is my Walt for my first create task! As you guys know I will be telling you each Walt for each create tasks. Ok so now actually onto what I had to do! So there were 5 columns that had different stuff you had to do! So first column had Word, then it said, What I think it means [like what I think the word means] next one said clues from the text, then the second to last one said Dictionary definition, and the last one said My sentence.! Ok so you had to put in any word from your book your reading! For example I put Pharaohs as one of my words! Then you have to type what you think it means [like what you think the word means] It’s best to put in the words you don’t know of, so that you can have a guess of what the word means, then search it up! Then you had to type what clues are the text giving to the word! After that you will have to Google up the dictionary definition of the word, and lastly you have to put in a sentence using that words. So that is what the first create task is all about! Once you have completed your first create task you have to move onto your second on! But when you blog it it’s mostly going to all be in one slideshow!

I hope you liked my first create task description! Now I will move onto explaining you what I had to do for my second create task!

SECOND CREATE TASK: For my second create task I did the Quiz one! So you have to make a copy of the Google doc, then you have to add 10 questions from your book, it can be right or wrong! Or true and false! Ok so then if you scroll down, you would have to add in the answers of your questions! So we are basically making a Kahoot! Which is easy to make! So you have to add 10 questions and 10 answers to all of the questions! Oh and this create tasks was: WALT: ask questions about the text we are reading. That is my WALT for my second create task! [btw if you don’t know what Walt stands for, it means we are learning to….] So once you have finished typing your questions you have to go into Create Kahoot and make a Kahoot! So you have to type it up and click on the link then go onto create. After that you have to create your Kahoot! You can add true or false, and quiz questions! Then you can get people to do it after your done, but you need the teachers permission before doing someone else’s! I did 6 Quiz’s and 4 True or False questions! Once you are done your create task you have to blog your Google doc and Kahoot! [guys sorry I forgot to tell you that you also have to move your create task into your reading folder and name it!]

THIRD CREATE TASK: Ok so now for my third create task I did the make connections one! So my third create tasks Walt was: WALT: make connections with the texts that we are reading Ok so that is my third create task Walt! Now I will tell you what I did for it! So firstly you have to make a copy of the Google doc, then you have to name it and move it into your reading folder. Then you had to fill in the boxes which said: What text were you reminded of, what reminded you of this, what memory or experience were you reminded of, and lastly what reminded you for this. Ok so I was a bit confused at first but then I managed to know what to do because I asked my reading teacher. So my reading teacher said that I’m allowed to blog one of the sheets, because the second one is confusing and the video thingy is also confusing. Once you have completed your create task you have to blog it!

REFLECTION FOR FIRST CREATE TASK: I liked this create task and didn’t like it that much. So I liked it because I found it a bit easy to do but I found the sentence part hard to do because I couldn’t really think of any, then I didn’t like it because it took a long time kind of. I think that next time I can improve on making my sentences better and my like create task a bit better, but I still think I did good! So in total I would rate this create task a… 7.2\10! 🙂

REFLECTION FOR SECOND CREATE TASK: I think that this create task didn’t take that much time and I actually finished it in one day! I also found this create task easy to do! I think next time I can improve on making my questions a bit better, but I still think I did good! So in total I would rather this create task a…. 8.4\10!

REFLECTION FOR THIRD CREATE TASK: I kind of didn’t like this create task that much because I found it hard to do. I think next time I can improve on making my sentences and words a bit better, but I still think I did okay. :\ So in total I would give this create task a 5.4\10!

WALT: Use knowledge from other learning areas to identify the meaning of words

This week for reading we had different create tasks and different books! So as you guys know our group [Chicken Jockey] and The ledgands are reading the same book, and another group called The Cocomelon Crew is reading a different book. Our concept for our group is about Space! We will also be learning about Space in Inquiry. Our book was called how We learn about Space. This book was about Space, what they do in space, and Space facts! This book is really interesting! You will find out more about this book in some of my create tasks! So in total I would give this book a 8.5\10! It was a really good book! Ok so this time there were FIVE create tasks!!!!! That’s a lot, but you don’t have to complete all of them! If you complete three create tasks upto a good quality then you will get a voucher, and if you complete all create tasks upto a good  standard then you will get a voucher and Epic, or free choice writing. I think that is a good idea, and I also hope I finish three create tasks or more! The max create tasks you have to complete is three. Ok so you have to read the book you got for your group! My book had about 24 pages! It also had a Glossary and some other stuff! Ok so once you have finished reading your book you have to move onto your create tasks! So there were five create tasks as I told you. You could pick any of them! Wait… there were actually four create tasks but the fifth one was a fast finisher one. like the one you do after your complete all of the other create tasks! Now I will tell you what I chose and had to do for my first create task!

FIRST CREATE TASK: For my first create task I chose to do the very bottom right one, which is the one where you have to write [type] a letter to the author of your story! Ok so firstly you have to make a copy of the Google doc that’s on slide 8 on the Reading site thingy. Then you have to name it and put it into your Reading folder. Once you have done that you have to move onto completing your create task. So there were words inside of this box thingy… []. Then you have to rewrite what the words said. Like for example, the part of the story reminded me of,,, Then you have to finish your create task from there! Once you have finished your first create task you have to blog it!

I hope you liked your description of what I had to do and what I chose for my first create task! Now I will tell you what I chose and had to do for my second create task!

SECOND CREATE TASK: For my second create task I chose to do the SPACE words! So for this create task you have to write [type] the word of the starting letter, for example S, then I would put Small or a word from my book that starts with S. Then it also had Definition, so you had to put the definition of your words. Then it said Sentence from your story. For that you have to write [type] a sentence from your story that has that word. It also says that you have to write [type] a sentence of your own, which also has that word. There are two more, which is a bit hard to explain. So you will see them in my create task! There both challenge ones! Once you have finished your create task you have to blog it!

THIRD CREATE TASK: For my third create task I chose to do the middle right side one, which is the one where you have to Design a book cover  of your story that your reading! Ok so firstly you have to ask your reading teacher to give you a sheet. or you can do it on Adobe Express. I chose to do it on Adobe, because it’s easier to do it on Adobe. I will tell you what you had to do on Adobe since I chose that one, and the paper one is a bit confusing. So firstly you have to go into Adobe express, then find a poster and make a copy of it. After you make a copy you have to add stuff about your book. Like my book is about Space as you know, then I would have to add Space stuff. You also have to add the title of your story book! Once you have finished your poster you can click a screenshot or download it upload it into your blog. I chose to click a screenshot since that’s the easiest thing to do. Once you have finished your third create task you have to blog it!

REFLECTION FOR FIRST CREATE TASK: I liked this create task because I found it really easy to complete! It did take a bit of thinking to do but otherwise it was easy! I think next time I can improve on making my sentences better, but I still think I did good! 🙂 SO in total I would rate this create task a 9.4\10!
